Virendra Singh Randhawa alias Vindoo Dara Singh on Thursday claimed police were not probing some politicians and their sons who placed IPL bets. The IPL betting racket suspect, granted bail on Tuesday, spoke briefly to media on his way out of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch headquarters where he had gone to record his attendance as per his bail condition. Vindoo said,If you want to stop betting in India, catch hold of bookies and not people who bet. I think they havent committed any crime, but because of this, you get interrogated for so long. There are so many politicians and their sons who place bets. Why dont they (the police) catch them? Speaking about Rajasthan Royals owner Raj Kundra, who was questioned by the Delhi police,Vindoo said,Raj Kundra is also my friend,I know him very well. He is a very nice man. Vindoo said he knew a lot of cricketers, and was friends with many but had never spoken to them about cricket. Whenever we meet,we have a beer and we party and the next day our picture is in newspapers. The pictures are published as if I am talking to them, he claimed. He claimed he and Chennai Super Kings team principal Gurunath Meiyappan were innocent. I have said a hundred times police were just doing their work. They called us because they thought we had more involvement, but they understood we dont. They called Guru and understood he is also not involved, and that is why we are free and roaming. All suspects who they think are involved are still here. There is no point proclaiming again and again that we havent done anything because it will be wrong on our part. Now the case is in court. It will be decided in court. Please pray it happens soon, Vindoo said. Chavan back in custody New Delhi: Suspended Rajasthan Royals Pace bowler Ankeet Chavan, one of the accused in the IPL spot-fixing case, surrendered before a city court on Thursday.
