Canadian MacLennan wins women’s trampoline

Rosannagh MacLennan captured the women's Olympic title.

Canadian trampolinist Rosannagh MacLennan captured the women’s Olympic title on Saturday, securing the gold after a late miscue by defending Olympic champion He Wenna.

The 23-year-old MacLennan posted a score of 57.305. That was good enough to edge silver medalist Huang Shanshan and more than a point ahead of Wenna, who are both from China.

Wenna easily topped qualifying but stumbled during warm-ups before the finals. She recovered and was about to finish off a clean routine when she slipped after trying to land her last trick.

Canadian Karen Cockburn just missed out in her bid to secure a fourth Olympic medal, finishing fourth.
