Button confident McLaren can compete with Red Bull

He is confident McLaren can overcome last season's glitches to compete with the champions.

British Formula One racer Jenson Button is confident that his McLaren team can compete with Red Bull in the 2012-13 season.

With pre-season testing over,Button’s attention is on the opener in Melbourne in two weeks and he knows McLaren can’t afford to have the same problems they had a year ago.

The Daily Mail quoted him,as saying: “I’m a lot happier with everything compared with last year.”

Button added: “Last year we had problems with the exhaust. But we also had the problem that we just weren’t very fast.”

“I feel that the field will be bunched up a lot more. Red Bull won’t have the advantage out of the blocks that they had last season. It gives us an opportunity,” Button said.
