Saturday will see the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) top-brass meet at their headquarters here for a Special General Body Meeting (SGM) but any final decision on Lalit Modi is unlikely to be taken at the same.
According to a top board official, the main issue among the three-point agenda for the meeting will be ratifying board secretary N Srinivasans report on Modis replies to the show-cause notices issued to him. The meeting will also decide whether the matter needed to be passed on to the disciplinary committee, something Srinivasan had himself said.
The meeting is expected to commence with a discussion on Srinivasans report, with the board explaining Modis alleged irregularities in the MSM deal to the members. The members are then expected to vote on whether the matter will be handed over to the disciplinary committee for further action.
The recent MSM deal has clearly exposed the irregularities committed by Modi. The issue regarding the deal has strengthened the BCCIs case to take tough action against Modi in the future, the official said.
The members would also need to reconstitute the disciplinary panel following BCCI president Shashank Manohars recent decision to opt out of the proceedings. The final agenda will be to discuss and take any appropriate decision with regard to the conduct of the IPL. The BCCI Corporate Trophy committee is also scheduled to meet for planning out their second season, with new teams and finalising the schedule on the agenda. The BCCI marketing committee will also convene later in the day.
