Mohun Bagan secretary Anjan Mitra has said that if former club seniors Chuni Goswami,Subrata Bhattacharya and Satyajit Chatterjee want Bhaichung Bhutia to be allowed to play for East Bengal, they should inform the club in writing.

“I have read in a newspaper that Chunida,Subrata Bhattacharya and Satyajit Chatterjee are peeved at the treatment meted out to Bhaichung and they want us to give him the release. I say,put forward your views in writing to the club executive body,I will allow Bhaichung to play for East Bengal,” Mitra said on Wednesday.

Mitra’s comments received a lukewarm response from the trio. “I stand by whatever I have written in my newspaper column and it should suffice. Why should I give anything in writing to Mohun Bagan officials?” Goswami asked. Chatterjee, who was Bagan’s assistant coach last season, too, sidestepped the issue saying: “You have the right to express your feelings but it’s not necessary that you have to give everything in writing.”

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Sangram Mukherjee has been appointed Bagan’s captain for the coming season.
