
New Delhi, Aug 30: President K R Narayanan has given his assent to the Army and Air Force (Disposal of Private Property) Amendment Bill, 2000, Indian Power Alcohol (Repeal) Bill, 2000 and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2000.
With this, these three Bills have been notified in the Gazette and they have come into force with immediate effect, an official release said today.
The Indian Power Alcohol (Repeal) Act seeks to repeal the original Act of 1948 as it has become obsolete.
The AIIMS (Amendment) Act seeks to amend the principal Act of 1956 to provide that consequent to an MP becoming Minister or Minister of State or Deputy Minister or Speaker, Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha or Deputy Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha, his or her nomination or election to AIIMS shall be deemed to have been terminated.
The Army and Air Force (Disposal of Private Property) Amendment Act, 2000 seeks to amend the principal Act of 1950 and increases the financial limit from Rs 10,000 to Rs two lakh.
