Prakash Amrtiraj’s stupendous show at the Campbell’s Hall of Fame tennis tournament in US saw him attain his career-best ranking, moving up a whopping 101 rungs to 204th spot in the ATP chart issued on Monday.

While by virtue of his quarter-final appearance at the $32,000 grasscourt event, compatriot Rohan Bopanna too leaped up 95 places to 279 in the singles chart. He now has 132 rating points under his kitty.

Though Amritraj lost the final against Fabrice Santoro last night, he gained 191 points and became the first Indian to reach an ATP singles event final after veteran Leander Paes, who won the championship way back in 1998.

Bopanna, whose career-best singles ranking was 213 that he achieved in July 2007, also climbed up six rungs in the doubles chart to 43.

Apart from Prakash and Bopanna, no other Indian made any impact in the rankings list with Paes and Mahesh Bhuapthi holding on to their 15th and 12th position in the doubles ranking.

Meanwhile, tennis ace Sania Mirza too remained static at the 33rd and 18th spot in the WTA singles and doubles chart respectively.
