PUNE, Sept 20: Patit Pawan Sanghatana (PPS) has taken strong objection to the State Government’s directive to Pune Municipal Corporation not to take any action against 4,888 square metres of “illegal” construction by Hotel Holiday Inn.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, PPS leader Sandeep Khardekar said the government was setting up a wrong precedent since the municipal corporation had initiated action against the hotel according to the rules and directives of the State Government. Khardekar has asked whether the government issued the instructions because several ministers enjoy the hospitality of the hotel.
He claimed that the use of Section 47 of Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act (MRTP), under which the party can approach the State Government, could encourage corrupt practices.
