MUMBAI, DECEMBER 16: The Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC), in its 84th Annual General Body Meeting (AGM), has declared the remaining nine candidates as committee members for 2000. The newly elected committee had its first meeting and elected Dr Cyrus S Poonawalla as chairman.

Other committee members are: Shivlal Daga, Khushroo N Dhunjibhoy, Ravi Ghai, Vivek Jain, Vijay Mallya, Ravi Parkash, Shyam M Ruia, Vijay B Shirke.

The committee has also unanimously elected Ravi Ghai, Shivlal Daga, Khushroo N Dhunjibhoy, Vivek Jain and Shyam M Ruia as the stewards of the club. These newly appointed stewards elected Ghai as their chairman.

BOARD OF APPEAL: Nine members contested for the six-member Board of Appeal. Among them Ardeshir S Narielwala (301 votes), Varsha M Thacker (260) Habib H Datoobhoy (246), P M Rungta (244), Mulraj D Goculdas (233), N Sheena Peters (222) were elected. Goculdas was re-elected as chairman of the board. 496 members exercised their vote out which six votes were found invalid.

WORKERS AGITATION: Hundreds of employees continued demonstration outside the Club premises and Ghai, along with Khushroo N Dhunjibhoy, approached the agitating workers leader Naamdev Dassal and impressed upon him not to take law in their hands and continue their work peacefully. There will be a joint meeting next Tuesday.
