BANGALORE, FEBRUARY 3: Pooja Galundia of Rajasthan won the National women’s snooker title defeating Heena Khadelwal (Maharashtra) 3-1 on Thursday.

Galundia emerged winner as the experienced Khadelwal played safe, and missed many easy pottings. She won 62-49, 53-60, 54-30, 64-33. Left-hander Galundia started off with a bang and picked the first frame 62-49. Khadelwal was trailing in the second frame 36-53 but pulled up to level the score.

In the black ball play off, Galundia missed the black to the right top but Khadelwal snatched the opportunity and prevailed 60-53.

Both Galundia and Khadelwal surrendered points for foul strokes in the third frame. But at the end, Khadelwal missed the pink and gifted the frame to Galundia 54-30.

In the deciding frame, Khadelwal messed up her strokes and gave points to her opponent at crucial junctures. She potted black while aiming at green, potted brown and was in trouble when the cue ball landed behind pink.

As Galundia attempted the pink, Khadelwal became nervousbut Galundia was unperturbed, and pocketed it, winning the frame and match after three and a half-hours.
