Pondy CM calls on Vajpayee

APRIl 3: Pondicherry Chief Minister P Shanmugham called on Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on Monday and discussed some of the pending projects in the Union Territory (UT).

Shanmugham, who is heading a Congress-TMC-AIADMK coalition government following the fall of the DMK-led R V Janakiraman ministry in the UT, told PTI that he had urged the Prime Minister that Pondicherry should continue to get the special financial privileges it has been enjoying.

The Chief Minister said he had also raised the issue of a broad gauge rail line between Pondicherry and Karaikal.
