Polls in mind, C’garh BJP involves rebels in party work

The Chhattisgarh BJP leadership has decided to engage dissidents and critics of the Raman Singh Government in organisational activities, for example entrusting them with the task of compiling suggestions and formulating strategies, for winning the 2008 Assembly polls.

Over the past few days the state BJP has been facing dissidence. Seven party legislators, led by Sarguja MP Nand Kumar Sai, had rushed to New Delhi on July 19 and complained to BJP chief Rajnath Singh about the Chief Minister’s style of functioning.

Party strategists have set up an eight-member panel, headed by Raipur MP Ramesh Bais, a known critic of the Chief Minister, and asked them to outline a plan for the party so that they can retain power in Assembly polls next year. The decision to form the panel was taken after the two-day introspection meet of the party held on July 28-29 at Champaran.
