PUNE, Oct 19: A team of crime branch sleuths will tonight leave for Bihar to probe the suspected involvement of the notorious Babalu Srivastava gang in killing a Pune petrol pump owner Sagar Ladkat.
Sub inspector S.M.Nadaf of the crime branch today disclosed before judicial magistrate (first class) S.V. Bhutke that some members of the gang, who have been arrested in Darbhanga district of Bihar, have confessed to the crime.
The magistrate issued arrest warrants authorising the crime branch sleuths to take the arrested gang members in their custody and bring them to Pune.
Sagar Ladkat was reportedly missing after leaving his Mangalwar Peth-based petrol pump for home on the evening of May 22, 1998. His car was found abandoned at Kondhwa the next day. He was found hacked to death at a short distance from the car. Police suspect that the gang killed Ladkat after abducting him over a ransom demand.
