The Chhattisgarh Police are in a fix about the whereabouts of a person who had called up Chandigarh and threatened to blow up Hotel Taj, two days ago.

As the call was traced to Pandatarai in Kawardha district, a remote village, some 200 km from here, separate police teams are on the haunt to nab the caller. But they have not got any credible lead to establish whether the call was a serious one or a prank.

Incidentally, both Indian and England cricket squads are putting up at different hotels in Chandigarh for the on-going second test at Mohali. Besides, the presence of a large number of visitors in the city for the match had made the police there in high alert, following the call.

Y K S Thakur, IG, Raipur range said separate police teams are on the job to identify the caller, but are yet to get leads.

“We have questioned the telephone booth owner but he had hardly anything to tell as the suspected caller had scarf all over his face and the booth owner had not seen his face. But we are working on other leads,” Thakur said.

To assist the local police team in this work, a team from Raipur under the leadership of ASP (crime) Ajatshatru Bahadur Singh has also been sent to Kawardha.

With the call going from a small and remote village in Chhattisgarh, the police are of the view that it could be a mischief call.
