VADODARA, Aug 5: Police protection during examinations seems to have become a rule rather than an exception at the M S University these days. With student union leaders resorting to violence at the drop of a hat, whether its regarding admissions or examination dates, the university has no option but to succumb to the pressure. And the last to witness student leaders' wrath is the English department of the Faculty of Arts, where leaders boycotted the entrance examinations on Monday. The exams were for those seeking admissions in M A (previous). The sudden protest even left the authorities perplexed, considering the examinations are being held every year without any disturbances.Head of the English department told Express Newsline that he saw no reason behind students objection. However, those boycotting the examinations were not from this university, he claimed.Kar said a decision regarding the new dates could not be taken on Tuesday, but the department would conduct the examinations in the next three days, with police protection. On the other hand, faculty representative Mihir Upadyaya claimed that students themselves had taken objection to appearing for the tests. When pointed out that the tests were being conducted since the past few years, he said then he was not the faculty representative to look into students' grievances.
