EXPRESS NEWS SERVICENEW DELHI, May 1: A city court has directed the south-west district Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) to submit a report on May 30 about an alleged prostitution racket in Rewla Khanpur village, under the Najafgarh police station area.Taking suo moto action on the basis of an April 19 report in the Hindustan Times, Metropolitan Magistrate Pawan Kumar Jain took cognisance of the offence under the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act. He has directed the DCP to investigate the matter.The magistrate said that if the report was true, ``. it is not only shocking but astonishing that such illegal activities were going on unnoticed by the authorities.''The village comprising 150 houses is located barely 20 km from the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Jatikhra Road in the south-west district. The newspaper report alleged that the local police are aware of the prostitution racket and that ``plain-clothes policemen from the Najafgarh police station visit the village daily. Not to fight crime, but to collect their weekly cuts.''
