Poland and India today inked an extradition treaty that would include several categories of crime like murder and causing harm to head of State. The treaty was signed by Prime Minister A. B. Vajpayee and the visiting Polish Prime Minister Lezek Miller here today. Both leaders also agreed on combatting terrorism jointly.This apart, building a healthy bridge on economic issues, including Defence production, were the focus of discussions held by the Polish Prime Minister with the PM and other senior government officials. Having just been incorporated into the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and almost certain of its membership in the European Union, Poland has of late begun to look beyond European politics. During his interactions with members of the Indian industry, Miller said his country’s inclusion into the EU in the near future would have a ‘‘positive impact’’ on the economy.This would allow Poland to provide fresh incentives to investors. Citing Poland’s traditional and historic relationship with India, Miller said it was about time both countries improved bilateral trade. At present, there exists just $ 250 million trade between the two countries. Miller is accompanied by a 200-member delegation which includes a business delegation comprising defence traders. A memorandum of understanding to broaden exchange in the Defence sector was also signed between the two countries.Miller also held discussions with Dy PM L.K. Advani and Yashwant Sinha.
