Prime Minister Manmohan Singh left quietly today for his nine-day tour of Britan and the US. He flew by an IAF helicopter from Safdarjung Airport to Indira Gandhi International Airport to leave for London. The Prime Minister’s residence is a mere two kilometres from Safdarjung Airport where the IAF choppers were stationed.

This prevented traffic snarls on Capital’s roads. Also, in a break from tradition, the departure ceremony for Singh was held at his 7 Race Course road residence instead of the airport.
