PUNE, June 18: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) octroi staff on Wednesday netted Rs 1.08 lakh in the form of fines imposed on consignments of Amul butter and Four Square brand cigarettes brought into civic limits without paying octroi.
The consignment of Amul butter came on Tuesday from the Gujarat Milk Co-operative Federation and was worth Rs 2.35 lakh. The octroi evaded amounted to Rs. 9,375. Besides recovering the octroi, a heavy fine was added to recover Rs. 75,000 from Rambhau Dhanwe representing the cooperative giant from Gujarat, according to a press note issued by Additional Municipal Commissioner Deepak Kapoor.
