The residents of Prini village near here are eagerly awaiting their familiar guest: Atal Behari Vajpayee. The former prime minister’s family has a house in the village, where he holidays every year.

Vajpayee will land at Bhuntar airport on Saturday from where he will travel by road to Prini. ‘‘We will be happier to have him here this time since the former prime minister will have more time for us,’’ said Khem Raj Thakur, a resident of Shuru village falling under Prini panchayat.

Gopal Singh Negi, a former BDC member from Prini, said it made no difference to them whether Vajpayee was the PM or the former PM, he was a loving man and showed respect towards villagers.

According to former MP Maheshwer Singh, overseeing the preparations for the visit, Vajpayee will be accompanied by his foster daughter Namita Bhattacharya, her husband Ranjan Bhattacharya and granddaughter Niharika.

Those who will receive Vajpayee include former CM P.K. Dhumal and state BJP chief Suresh Bhardwaj.

He added that Vajpayee will be given a warm reception by BJP workers and the people of the Valley at Mohal, Kullu, Patlikul, Sarsai and Prini. Meanwhile, adequate force has been deployed to ensure foolproof security cover to the VVIP, A.P. Singh, the district police chief, told The Indian Express.

‘‘The district administration has made all necessary arrangements to ensure comfortable summer vacation for the former prime minister,’’ said Kullu deputy commissioner R.D. Nazeem over phone.
