Former Pakistan skipper Waqar Younis does not want to make predictions on this edition of the World Cup. In the city for a function, the master of reverse swing spoke to The Indian Express. Excerpts:• Why can’t Pakistan find two good openers after Saeed Anwar and Aamir Sohail?Far too many openers have been tried but none were able to play for long or perform consistently. But we have good middle-order batsmen in Yousuf and Younis followed by good all-rounders at the end. • Who will be the most effective bowler in Cup? I think Shane Bond will be very effective on these wickets. It’s not a place for the medium pacers. Andrew Flintoff will be handy for England. • On IndiaIndia have a good chance. I know their seamers lack experience but they have two good spinners. They will be hoping for Irfan Pathan to do well. • On Irfan Pathan He has been advised by too many coaches. I would like him to go back and look at the old footages of his bowling. Any further advice would be dangerous for him. He’s a smart chap and knows what to do. I don’t know why we are checking his bowling pace in a warm-up match. May be he is trying to get his rhythm back. • On Pakistan losing to India in World CupsWe would like to break that jinx this time. We have beaten India at all other tournaments but unfortunately not in the World Cup. We had the potential, but somehow every time they came up better than us.
