Manchester United captain Roy Keane says the club’s recent performances have not been up to scratch and not all of his team mates have been giving 100 per cent. ‘‘We can all make excuses but people are probably sick of excuses’’, Keane told the club’s television channel. ‘‘Generally, our performances have been very poor. They haven’t been good enough.’’
‘‘It is all well and good looking at other people but I think the most important thing is you have to look at yourself’’, said the Irishman. ‘‘You have to ask yourself ‘Are you giving 100 per cent to the club for the manager and for the fans?’ I am not sure that every player can say they are. That’s a crime in itself.’’
United lost to AC Milan in the first knock-out stage of the League and have seen their hopes of catching domestic leaders Chelsea effectively disappear with a run of just one win in their last four league games.
‘‘The (league) table doesn’t lie, the results don’t lie and over the last few weeks and months the performances haven’t been good enough’’, said Keane. ‘‘You have to have that desire, your pride to go on performing and do well for Man United.’’ (Reuters)
