You might think that a person who eats out often may have some difficulty pinpointing her favourite restaurant. But not Anil Bakshi, librarian, British Council Library.
When the question was put to her, prompt was her reply, “The Coffee Shop at Hotel Blue Diamond,” and there are no doubts about that. “I like the service, which is really quick, I like the set-up and I like the food,” she says. (Point noted!)
Her favourites at The Coffee Shop are fried fish (“that’s very good”) and cold tea (“with fresh lime, it’s really delicious”) and her tone conveys it all. “I do not mind going there any time of the day. In fact, I do not let any opportunity slip which I can grab to visit the restaurant! And at times I even drag my guests there too,” she confesses.
Bakshi has been in Pune for almost two years now, and she remembers her first visit to the place – even the exact date. “It was October 2, 1996. We had an official convention there, and reaching the venue in the afternoon, I found myself in The Coffee Shop. That was the beginning of an association that has endured till date, and the place figures in many memories too, like, “the first time my boss treated me, it was there!” Given her evident fondness for The Coffee Shop, undoubtedly for Anil Bakshi, it’s a case of anytime, same place!
