PUNE, May 3: Taking serious note of the complaints from passengers that bus drivers just skip bus-stops, the administration of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Transport (PCMT) has decided to depute its staff at various vantage points to help passengers board a bus.
The PCMT has identified about 25 bus-stops along the highway and other areas in Pimpri-Chinchwad. It will depute 50 employees at these stops to force drivers to halt the buses. PCMT general manager Mohan Thombre said that the plan will be implemented from May 5.
The revenue by way of ticket fare for the month of April fell drastically, Thombre said. As against the average monthly revenue of Rs 1.25 crore, the revenue was just Rs 1.1 crore. A reduced load of passengers due to the summer season, the series of one-day cricket matches, and the increased number of marriages taking place were the reasons cited by him for the fall in revenue.
