The tender process for widening the roads is expected to be completed by March 1999. Besides, the cantonment board is actively considering the possibility of taking over the maintenance of Salisbury Park and Ramwadi which fall under the Military Engineering Services (MES). A proposal to this effect is under consideration. Until now MES continued to turn a blind eye towards the maintenance of these roads on the grounds that the local civil populace utilised these roads.

The MES in the recent past had suggested a formal take-over of some of the roads by the cantonment board such as the busy Subroto Marg, Coyaji Road, Maneckji Mehta Road, Ghorpadi Road from Morwada junction to the second railway crossing and from the second railway crossing to Mundhwa Road besides the road from the end of the Armed Forces Sports College to Koregaon Park. The cantonment executive officer J Sharma had also urged the MES authorities to permit the cantonment board to officially take over maintenance and resurfacing of these roads so that the government need no longer spend money on maintenance and send funds year after year.
