A senior executive of the Oil India Ltd and two others had a providential escape after a Pawan Hans helicopter met with an accident at Bongaigaon in lower Assam today.On lease with Oil India Ltd, the helicopter that had just taken off from Bongaigaon after a routine landing for senior administrative manager B.N. Doley, crashed as it touched an elevation of about 25 feet. Doley, along with pilot Mrityunjay Singh and S. Roy, inflight engineer, both Pawan Hans employees, sustained injuries and were rushed to the Bongaigaon refinery hospital nearby.The helicopter left Guwahati this morning on a routine duty of the pipeline surveillance system of Oil India Ltd. Doley was returning from the Bongaigaon pipeline pumping station to the OIL pipelines headquarters in Guwahati when the accident occurred.Pawan Hans, notorious for its accident rate, had met with a major accident in September last year near Shillong, when a chopper on way to the Meghalaya capital crashed killing 10 persons, including a minister and two MLAs.
