
CHANDIGARH, April 20: About 500 delegates from the city and Punjab attended the two-day conference of the Punjab and Chandigarh Medical and Sales Representatives Union, which concluded here today.
In a resolution, the conference condemned the govt for amending the Indian Patent Act, 1970 which, it was alleged, will prove dangerous for the country, as it aimed at providing Exclusive Monopoly Right to multinational drug companies.

It was decided that Chandigarh Housing Federation be urged to allott them houses and land to societies which have paid 25 per cent of the amount must be allotted immediately.
In the elections held, Dr A.P. Sanwaria was re-elected chairman of the society for the third time. K. Dhalliwal and Rajesh Ahuja were elected president and general secretary, respectively, of the society. It also condemned the move to pass the Insurance Regulatory Authority Bill.
In another resolution, the conference demanded fixation of of minimum wages for medical and sales representatives at Rs 3,500 per month.
A call was also given to protest against the alleged anti-employee policies of managements of Glaxo, Searly and FDC.
The union8217;s new working committee members were also elected. They are: A. Sawhney, president, Inderjit Singh, general secretary and A.S. Bagga, treasurer.
