BARODA, APRL 9: Congress legislator Iqbal Patel, allegedly involved in the murder of his son-in-law Hanif Mohammed Vaid, was granted anticipatory bail till April 11 by the District and Sessions Court at Bharuch on Saturday.

Three others, suspected to be involved in the murder, were also granted anticipatory bail along with Patel. A case of murder is registered against Patel and six others, charging them of kidnapping and murdering Vaid, who had eloped with Taslima, Patel’s daughter and married her against the wishes of the Patel family.

The body of Vaid was found in Dhadhar river in Thuvavi village of Baroda district on Tuesday. Police suspect that Vaid was thrown into the river after he was strangled to death.

One of the seven persons involved in the murder, Ibrahim Kaliya, has already been arrested, Bharuch District Superintendent of Police C R Parmar said here on Sunday.
