NEW DELHI: The Congress on Saturday night expelled all the 22 MLAs in Uttar Pradesh who recently gave a severe jolt to the party by floating a rebel outfit and helped the survival of Kalyan Singh government. The party president, Sitaram Kesri said orders to this effect had been issued.Rajasthan ex-deputy minister diesJAIPUR: Rajasthan's former deputy minister and social worker Bhagwati Devi died after a protracted illness in Ajmer on Saturday. She was 61 and is survived by a son and three daughters. She was suffering from cancer. Bhagwati was elected to the state Assembly on a Congress ticket from Bhinai Assembly segment of Ajmer district in 1972 and 1980 and was inducted in the then council of ministers led by Jagannath Pahadia in 1980. She was the first woman from the Scheduled Caste community in Rajasthan who was elected to the Assembly twice from a general seat.VHP to hold Hindu-Buddhist meetsAYODHYA: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has decided to organise Hindu-Buddhist conferences from November 21 to 23. The meets will be held at Modinagar and Meerut besides Delhi, VHP sources said here on Sunday. Besides the Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Jayandra Saraswati of Kanchi and eminent Hindu religious leaders, Buddhist leaders from China, Japan, Thailand, Bhutan, Nepal and Surinam are also expected to take part in the conferences.RPI morcha for unorganised workersNAGPUR: The Republican Party of India (RPI) will take out a massive morcha to the Parliament House in New Delhi on November 27 to demand justice for the unorganised workers in the country and oppose privatisation of the insurance sector and the banks in the country, said V K Ganar, secretary of the RPI. At a press conference here on Sunday, Ganar demanded minimum wages for the unorganised workers in the country. He also demanded immediate removal of all anomalies with regard to provision of jobs to the SC/ST people.
