Rajasthan BJP chief Vasundhara Raje today again hinted she was not keen on giving up her Cabinet post in the Vajpayee Government even if this was against the party’s one-man-one-post norm.Though BJP chief M. Venkaiah Naidu indicated on Sunday Vasundhara may step down from the Union Ministry after Vajpayee’s return from abroad, she said today: ‘‘Any decision on my resignation will be taken by the party leadership,’’ implying she has no plan to do so on her own. BJP MP tones down opposition to Vasundhara New Delhi: BJP MP Vishvendra Singh, who publicly criticised Vasundhara Raje’s appointment as Rajasthan unit chief, relented a little on Wednesday saying he was ready to cooperate if she supported his demand for extension of OBC status to Jats of Bharatpur and Dholpur. Singh, Lok Sabha member from Bharatpur and a scion of the former ruling family of the area, said he still believed she has been ‘‘foisted on state BJP’’ by the party high command. He listed two other demands — nomination of at least one Gujjar to BJP national executive and inclusion of Rajputs in OBC category. — ENS Raje is simply following another Union Minister of State, Raman Singh, who after being appointed Chhattisgarh BJP chief over a month ago continues to hold on to his Cabinet position. The single-post norm was invoked fast for Madhya Pradesh CM Kailash Joshi, who was replaced as the central disciplinary action committee chairman by O.P. Kohli soon after being named MP BJP chief. Like Raman Singh, there is no party plan to project Joshi as BJP candidate for the chief ministership.Among most-burdened leaders is Gopinath Munde, saddled with national BJP vice-presidency, central charge of Maharashtra BJP and leadership of Maharashtra BJP legislature party. The BJP high command has shown uncommon favour to some leaders by assigning them home-states at the Centre, contrary to its normal practice. The beneficiaries, apart from Munde, are vice-president Kailashpati Mishra (Bihar), treasurer Ramdas Agrawal (Rajasthan), and Kalraj Mishra (UP).
