BJP leaders led by state unit President D V Sadananda Gowda, its chief ministerial candidate, B S Yeddyurappa and National General Secretary H N Anantkumar claimed that the party would put up an impressive show.

BJP is sure to get 140 seats, they said.

Yeddyurappa said, “S M Krishna, Mallikarjun Kharge and Siddaramaiah are already saying they are in race for chief ministership. Let them decide who would be the opposition leader”, he said, claiming it would be BJP that would be in the ruling ranks and Congress in opposition.

Yeddyurappa said the Congress and JDS are already in talks to join hands once again and declared ‘people will defeat their conspiracy’.

Congress Campaign Committee Chairman Siddaramaiah told reporters that his party would secure ‘simple’ majority.

People dejected over H D Kumaraswamy’s coalition government’s ‘misrule,’ JDS-BJP parties power struggle during which development came to a standstill, have decided to vote for Congress for stability, he claimed.

The Gujarat Model which the BJP made it as one of its main poll planks, will boomerang on that party’s poll prospects in Karnataka, the former deputy chief minister said.

“If Gujarat has marched in development under Narendra Modi, why have BJP ruled states in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh failed to replicate the model”, he asked.
