Former Goa CM Manohar Parrikar today moved the Supreme Court challenging the legality of Governor S.C. Jamir’s decision to dismiss his government within hours of it winning a controversial trust vote in the Assembly.

The petition sought to challenge the legality of the Governor’s decision terming it a ‘‘partisan’’ order in the wake of the BJP government winning the trust vote in the House.

Narrating the events of February 2, the petitioner sought to question the basis on which Jamir took the decision to dismiss the state government. It said the proceedings of the House could not have reached the Governor to take an independent view of the matter and the ‘‘hasty’’ manner in which the decision was taken smacks the action of the Governor as a ‘‘colourable exercise’’ of constitutional powers.

Another petition filed by Goa resident Krishna Murari Pandit is also likely to come up tomorrow.
