In the run-up to the Raipur meet later this fortnight, senior RSS leaders have gathered in Nagpur to discuss the restructuring of the entire Sangh Parivar. The brainstorming by nearly 100 Parivar members, which began on July 1 at the Sangh’s Mahal and Reshimbagh offices here, will last until July 10 when the Akhil Bhartiya Pratinidhi Sabha begins in Raipur.
Sources said Madan Das Devi, who coordinates between RSS and BJP, may get greater responsibility from now on. After former PM A.B. Vajpayee’s utterances on Gujarat and Leader of Opposition L.K. Advani’s silence on Hindutva, the Sangh wants Devi to play an influential role and ensure that the RSS agenda is never ignored, sources said.
Sources drew attention to senior RSS leader Mohan Bhagwat’s statement at the VHP’s Kolkata meet that Vajpayee and Advani had shouldered enough responsibilities and that it was time the new generation took up the load.
Source said, the proposed restructuring would not be restricted to the BJP but would be extended to all 35 frontal RSS bodies, and the highlight would be a leadership change in favour of younger leaders. The Raipur meet is expected to endorse the revamp, with the RSS top brass putting the seal on it on July 17 and 18.
