CHANDIGARH, May 28: Dhaita trainees, Parantap Chaturvedi and P Vishal, will fight it out for the boys under-16 title in the Adidas North Zone Junior Tennis Championship being organised by Haryana Tennis Association at Yamunanagar. In the semi-finals, both Delhi players had struggled to overcome their stubborn opponents today. Chaturvedi, down by one set, survived an inspired first set attack by Dhatia colleague Chandrashekhar Mohanty before coming through 3-6, 6-0, 6-1 in the first semi-final.

Vishal and Sunil Kumar of Punwire were evenly matched in the second semi-final. Vishal just squeezed past the talented southpaw 6-7, 7-7, 7-5.

Last month, Sunil had won the first leg of the adidas circuit in Delhi. Harsimran Kaur of Chandigarh was given a tough time by the dimunitive Ankita Bhambri of Delhi in the girls under-16 semi-final. Harsimran was down by a set before she reorganised her game to beat Ankita 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

At the adjacent court, Isha Chopra of Haryana had an easy win over Rani Smita Jain of Rajasthan 6-3, 6-4. Amanjot Singh of Chandigarh and Nishank Mishra of Delhi entered the boys under-14 final. While Amanjot outplayed Nikhil V Murli of Dhaita 6-2, 6-1, Nishank Mishra took out Nipun Gupta, also of Dhaita 6-3, 7-5.

Boys under-16: Parantap Chaturvedi (Dhaita) bt CS Mohanty 3-6, 6-0, 6-1, P Vishal (Dhaita) bt Sunil Kumar (Punwire) 6-7, 7-6, 7-5.

Boys under-14: Amanjot Singh (Chandigarh) bt N V Murali (Dhaita) 6-2, 6-1, Nishank Mishra (Delhi) bt Nipun Gupta (Dhaita) 6-3, 7-5.

Girls u-16: Harsimran Kaur (Chd) bt Ankita Bhambri (Delhi) 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, Isha Chopra (Haryana) bt Rani Smita Jain (Raj) 6-3, 6-4.

Girls u-14: Ankita Bhambari (Del) bt Mallika Malhotra (Chd) 6-0, 6-0, Sanaa Bhambri (Delhi) bt Naini Karsolia (Del) 6-1, 6-2.
