Panchkula rape: family seeks bail cancellation of accused

The mother of the 17-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped in Panchkula in September, filed a review application in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Sanjeev Jindal in Panchkula on Thursday. On November 1, a local court had granted bail to Aman Ahuja, one of the accused in the case.

In the review application, the mother of the victim claimed that the case was not represented properly by the police before the court. The petitioner sought that Ahuja’s bail be cancelled as “the police manipulated the facts to help the accused get an early bail”.

The family has already filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking an independent probe in the case.

Two of the main accused in the case — Jatin and Chhavi — have not been arrested by the Panchkula police till date.
