Armed Palestinians kidnapped an Israeli Arab producer for CNN TV network from a car in Gaza City on Monday. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.CNN correspondent Ben Wedeman — who was in the vehicle with the producer, Riyad Ali — said the gunmen did not say why they were taking his colleaguePalestinian Authority officials said they trying to find out who had abducted Ali and would try to secure his release.Speaking at the UN General Assembly’s opening debate Syrian Foreign Minister Farouq Al-Shara accused Israel of inciting US to invade Iraq to distract attention from its own actions in the region. Earlier, Israel accused Damascus of ‘‘directing terrorism’’ and threatened pre-emptive strikes against militants on its territory. Israeli Deputy Defence Minister Zeev Boim said Syria was ‘‘a central junction in regional terrorism’’.
