ISLAMABAD, JANUARY 24: Pakistan has sought to conceal the number of casualties suffered by its Army after launching an attack to capture an Indian post in Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir, saying about five soldiers were "missing" since the clash at the Line of Control (LoC).

The soldiers went missing after they were "presumably chasing the retreating intruders", a spokesman of Pakistan army was quoted as saying by the official news agency APP on Monday.

Indian troops repulsed a Pakistani attempt to capture a forward post on Saturday killing 18 enemy soldiers, including a Lieutenant in Pallanwala area of Akhnoor sector.

Five bodies of Pakistani soldiers, including that of the officer and three non-commissioned officers, were recovered by Indian troops.

Director General of Pakistan’s Inter Services public relations Brigadier Rashid Qureshi claimed in an interview to private news agency that Indian troops opened fire at a Pakistani outpost in Iftikharabad sub-sector on Sunday when a group of journalists were being taken there.

"The Pakistani troops retaliated to the firing, which was heavy in the morning, but almost died down in the evening. There was no loss on the Pakistani side," he said.
