UNITED NATIONS, MARCH 22: Pakistan’s new UN Ambassador, Shamshad Ahmad, has alleged that the killing of 35 Sikhs in Kashmir was "perpetrated by Indian security forces” to discredit the Kashmiri independence cause.

"This incident was nothing but a gruesome act of terrorism, a heinous crime, which would only serve the vested interest,” he said. "Why should Kashmiris hurt their own cause? Why should they try to damage their own legitimate struggle?” he asked. Ahmad was speaking at his first informal meeting with reporters since presenting his credentials to Secretary-General Kofi Annan earlier this month.
