We elect MPs to perform certain functions. One of them is to make laws for the country after careful discussion. But when we see parliament proceedings or read about them in newspapers, we are compelled to criticise them. Take the case of tainted ministers. In my opinion, these ministers have lawfully fought the election and have won with public support. When they filed their nomination, they did not do anything against the law. When they got votes, it was the public who elected them as per the democratic norms of the country. Finally, the prime minister made few of our MPs as Ministers— again as per the powers he has. What is wrong in all this? If our MPs find anything wrong in the process, they have every right to change the law relating to it. But they do not do so because most of the parties would find many of the leaders out of circulation! Then why make a hue and cry on these issues? Just for getting political mileage? The Finance bill of the country is one of the most important bills. This bill is being passed without any discussion because the time meant for discussion was lost on other trivial issues. Our MPs are those whom we have sent to the Parliament. We have every right to teach them a lesson during the next elections. The trouble is that they invariably behave in the same way. Today, if it is the NDA that is wasting time, next time the UPA may do the same thing.I wish our MPs rise above party politics and do something constructive for the country. Otherwise, what right they have got to criticise the transporters for going on strike? After all, truckers also losing income during their strike, but our MPs have nothing to lose!
