
Hailing the Government’s decision, former chief minister Virbhadra Singh however sought to take credit for it. He pointed out that the Congress manifesto too had promised to raise daily wages to Rs 100 and to increase social security cover for the elderly, widows and disabled. “I thank the Chief Minister for implementing the election manifesto of the Congress. This is a step in the right direction. I also urge the Chief Minister to further announce continuation of the Rs 100-crore food subsidy scheme and Rs 135-crore subsidy on domestic power for five years, in the larger interest of the public,” he added.
