The US and Pakistani security forces are monitoring movement of large caravans through the area in Pakistan sharing borders with Iran and Afghanistan, believing Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden to be hidden in the region.The CIA and Pakistani Army are electronically tracking the caravan of people on foot and horseback as officials believe there is a high degree of probability of the terror mastermind hiding himself in the mountainous region, according to ABC TV report. Pak Minister says he was misquoted ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani official who said last week he had reports that two sons of Osama bin Laden were wounded and arrested said on Sunday he had been misquoted in reports. ‘‘I said the reports about the arrest were unsubstantiated,’’ Sardar Sanaullah Zehri, the Home Minister of Baluchistan province, said. (Reuters) Officials say bin Laden may be on foot and have cast a net around the caravan using electronic US surveillance and planes with cameras that can see through darkness to monitor its movement along a trail, the report said yesterday.The security agencies have closed off the area to all other traffic as they suspect bin Laden to be in the rugged mountainous area. President Bush has also authorised the launch of a missile attack if bin Laden is positively identified, it said. Though bin Laden’s voice patterns were identified in the intercepted cellphone conversation with his son Saad, US officials are aware that the call could have been a decoy to try to get his pursuers off the trail.US forces confirmed that they detained seven men suspected of planning attacks in Afghanistan. They were detained carrying bomb-making instructions in the province of Helmand, it said.
