BHUBANESWAR, NOV 7: The State Government has closed all educational institutions in the cyclone-affected areas of Orissa for an indefinite period. It has also asked the Utkal University authorities to postpone all scheduled examinations.

In a notification the State Government has stated that most of the cyclone-affected people have taken shelter in the school and college buildings. Till any alternative arrangement is made for their rehabilitation it will not be possible to run the institutions. Besides, provisions of electricity and drinking water are yet to be restored in the institutions.However, the State Government will move a notification regarding the reopening of schools and colleges and the concerned heads of the institutions will be intimated about it.

The Sainik School at Bhubaneswar which was scheduled to re-open on October 31 after puja vacations, has been closed till November 20. Some buildings and boundary walls of the school have been damaged in the second cyclonic storm and the authoritieshave closed it on grounds of safety.
