BHUBANESWAR, DEC 14: The Orissa government has so far received Rs 1,058.76 crore from various sources including the Centre towards disaster mitigation in the wake of the twin cyclones that hit the state in October.

This included Rs 960.62 crore from the Centre from which Rs 500 crore came as grant and the rest as advance assistance, a supplementary white paper on the disaster circulated among members of the state assembly said today.The Chief Minister’s relief fund had received Rs 71.53 crore till December 12. The fund included Rs 38.10 crore provided by Prime Minister’s relief fund for payment of ex-gratia at the rate of Rs 50,000 to the next of kin of each person killed in the disaster. A sum of Rs 26.61 crore was received from various state governments.

The additional information was provided to the house as opposition members alleged on Monday that the white papers contained incomplete information.It said that the Centre had provided Rs 200 crore on October 23, including Rs 100 crore as advance torepay the Rs 236.75 crore overdraft the state had taken from Reserve Bank of India on October 21.

The Centre provided Rs 39.37 crore and Rs 10.62 crore towards advance plan assistance and the fourth installment of the state’s share of the National Calamity Relief Fund respectively on October 28, a day prior to the super cyclone. The Centre had also provided 200 crore towards advance against the state’s share of the central taxes on November one followed by yet another advance against central plan assistance of Rs 10.62 crore.

This was followed by release of Rs 400 crore in three installments from the National Fund for Calamity Relief (NFCR) on November 12, 29 and December two.
