NEW DELHI, April 21: Two quick goals in the first half enbaled Oriental Bank oust Delhi Administration 2-0 and earn full points in the Dr BR Ambedkar Football Tournament at the Thyagraj Nagar Sports Complex here on Wednesday.

The victory took the point tally of Oriental Bank to 12 which is sufficient to give them the runners-up berth. The other contenders in the Group A are CISF and FCI (HQ). CISF have nine points so far and have to play two more matches.

Delhi Administration displayed a good football but lacked finishing and it was this aimless that let them down. On contrary, experienced bankmen utilised the two chances which came their way.

Oriental Bank went ahead in the 17th minute when Sanjeev Sharma’s header off winger Timanshu Sharma struck the net. Nearly two minutes later, Vivek Sharma’s grounder off Mohd. Furqan beat the Admn custodian Sanjay Sharma.

Earlier, FCI (HQ) held ESIC 1-1 and shared points. In the initial half Bikramjit provided the lead to FCI when he converted a fine cross from Sulfiqar. But ESIC restored parity just a minute before the final whistle when striker Surinder Singh scored after receiving a cross from winger Jaman Singh.

Bank of India, who had lost 0-2 to Central Sectt yesterday, had better luck today as they prevailed over Delhi Vidyut Board (DESU) by a solitary goal on Wednesday.

Central Sectt scored through Chandan Singh and Kuldeep Singh on Tuesday evening. Today, BOI netted a beautiful goal against DVB in the 55th minute when D.K. Ghosh’s full blooded shot from the top of the box found the target.
