After a gap of four years, the Shiv Sena-BJP combine today showed up at the Chief Minister’s customary tea party on the eve of the assembly session, projecting itself as a pro-active Opposition keen on discussing ‘‘people’s issues” with the government.

The shift from the saffron combine’s traditionally confrontationist stance comes in the run-up to the assembly polls. Mellowed down, following the defeat of the NDA in the Lok Sabha polls, Sena leaders said they had decided to accept the CM’s invite in order to discuss ‘‘the burning issues facing the state” ahead of the budget session.

The party was hosted by Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde at the swanky Malabar hill government guest house, Sahyadri.
