The bandh called by the Opposition passed off peacefully today even as Chief Minister Arjun Munda handed out jobs to more than 1,000 people selected for Grade III jobs in the Bihar Public Service Commission in 1998.

More than 650 bandh supporters, led by CLP leader Furkan Ansari, JMM MLA and Leader of Opposition Stephen Marandi led processions breaking curfew orders.

The CM held a function at the Zila School Grounds to hand over appointment letters to 1,009 candidates who had been selected for recruitment as Class III staff by the Bihar Public Service Commission in 1998. Bihar had refused to absorb them as they had become Jharkhand residents.
