PATIALA, Sept 22: In a significant move, the state government has decided that in government colleges of the state falling under the jurisdiction of three important universities, Punjab University, Punjabi University and Guru Nanak Dev University, honours subjects /courses would be discontinued from this session, with the exception of three-year honours school courses.According to a letter addressed to this effect by the director, Education Department (Colleges) Punjab to the state secretary (higher education), the decision comes in the wake of reports that honours classes used to have very less number of students, in some colleges, students were forcibly made to opt for these courses and consequently, some students would stop attending classes for these courses.
