PUNE, Nov 25: Aggrieved traders and commission agents will meet on Friday to chalk out a detailed action plan for indefinite bandh planned in Pune in protest against the refusal of the government to lift the ban on export of onions.

The meeting has been called by the Pune Onion and Potato Purchasers Association and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Adate Association. Prices of onions crashed with the entry of around three lakh tons of old stock on onions in the festive season. Prices have come down to Rs 200 to 250 per quintal for the old stocks and Rs 200 to Rs 300 per quintal for new onions.

President of the Pune Onion and Potato Purchasers Association Pravin Raysoni said that the decision would jointly be taken by the two associations to press for their demand of a lift on the ban of export of onions. 8220;We will first take a decision on the Pune bandh and a meeting of the associations of Maharashtra will be held on Sunday to decide on the Maharashtra bandh,8221; he said.
