ONGC to convert natural gas into middle distillate

ONGC is embarking on an ambitious project to convert natural gas available in Tripura in abundance into middle-distillate like petrol, diesel and kerosene. “We have decided to convert natural gas available in Tripura into middle distillate like, petrol, diesel and kerosene to cater to the demands of the state”, director of ONGC, R. C. Gourh said. There is tremendous scope for industrialisation using the natural gas here and if industry comes up in a big way the demand for petrol, diesel and kero-sene will go up besides the gas, he said. One million cubic metres of gas can be converted everyday into petrol, diesel and kero-sene. ONGC will set up a processing centre in the state for the purpose, he added. PTI
