VADODARA, Sept 20: The Oil and Natural Gas Commission, Western Region, donated a Maruti Van to Arpan, a centre for handicapped children, as part of its socio-economic programme. N Lal, Executive Director of the Region handed over the keys to Dr Jayant Sastry, Director of Arpan at a function on September 16.
Arpan, which was established in 1993, has currently 250 children registered for treatment. Though treatment charges are nominal, children from the lower strata of society and those living in distant localities were finding it difficult to come for treatment.
Hindi fortnight celebration: The Hindi Fortnight celebrations at ONGC, Regional Office commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by N Lal. Senior business officials from different business groups presented reports on the measures undertaken by them to encourage the use of Hindi at the work place. Translation and Handwriting competitions were held as part of the celebrations.
Puja performed: Vishwakarma puja was performed by the employees of the various shops and floors of ONGC’s Central Workshop, Vadodara. The puja was attended by officers and workers of the workshop and other departments. The Transport section of ONGC, Western Region also performed the customary Vishwakarma puja.
Donation camp held: The ONGC’s Mahila Samiti, Mehsana Project as part of their social welfare programme, organised a blood donation camp recently. Among others, Samiti president Shanti Lal, vice-president Rashmi Bansal and general secretary Prabhat Nalini Pati were present at the camp.
